It has been 40 years ago that the Dutch government decided to participate in the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon, UNIFIL, as a buffer between Israelish and Palestinians. 10 march 1979 the first battalion arrived in Beirut. A battalion formed mostly by conscripts, 18-19 years old and most of them obligated, a few volunteers.
I was one of the 18 year old boys obligated to go.
